The Community Development Division, a function of the Public Works Department, is responsible for implementing the Village’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Subdivision Ordinance, Zoning Ordinance, Sign Ordinance, Building Code, and Ordinances pertaining to stormwater management. Staff within the Community Development Division primarily manage building permits, planning and zoning, and engineering projects.
The Community Development Director serves to administer and manage the programs and employees who serve in this Division while also acting as the Village’s Building Commissioner, Zoning Administrator, and staff liaison to the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals. All zoning and Plan Commission inquiries should be directed to Community Development Director.
The Permit Technician is responsible for processing building permit applications, providing building information to the public, coordinating plan review and inspection services, and administration of the Village’s permit system. Plan reviews and inspections for building permits are done by outside contractors. All questions and inquiries regarding plan reviews, inspections, and other related questions should be directed to the Permit Technician.
The Project Engineer is responsible for engineering aspects related to development requests, such as grading, drainage, and other technical reviews. In addition, they oversee the creation and implementation of many Village infrastructure projects such as the annual road program. All engineering inquiries should be directed to the Project Engineer.
